On Saturday, McDonough County residents joined together as one to fight Alzheimer’s disease. Over 200 people gathered in Veteran’s park at 10 a.m. to join us for the Macomb Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
We were lucky enough to have Kim Williams of Regional Media as emcee for the morning, pumping up the walkers and even sharing her own personal connection to the cause. Kim walked through each color of Promise Garden flowers, encouraging Walkers to raise them high, signifying why they Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease.
To get Walkers warmed up and ready to take the trek around Veteran’s Park, Anne Dixon from Free Range Yoga led Zumba stretches to salsa music. The crowd loved it!
We even had special appearances from Rocky, Western Illinois University’s official mascot, and the WIU Cheerleaders. Thank you for encouraging and cheering on the Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants!
Over 200 participants walked laps around Veteran’s Park hopeful for a cure. We are thrilled to announce that the Macomb Walk to End Alzheimer’s beat their goal of $21,000 raising $24,457.32 so far for Alzheimer’s care, support and research!! Although we surpassed our goal, fundraising is still not closed! Walkers can fundraise through November 30, 2015.
